SIG Saturday Program

Program Overview

During the six-week session, students in grades 1-6 will be engaged in creative intellectual challenges that apply their knowledge of such academic topics as math, science and social studies, as well as promote the development of communication, leadership and problem-solving skills. Students will be grouped by grade, with a unique problem scenario at each level. In the final portion of the program, students will incorporate the skills and knowledge they have learned in building solutions to their problem.

Grades 1 & 2 – Budding Botanists – In this class, students will become botanists as they investigate the nature, structure and life cycle of plants. Students will work to solve real-world problems, such as how to use plants as fuel for cars.

Grades 3 & 4 – Preservation Park – Students will become geologists and environmental scientists as they work together to create a park that will help to preserve a shoreline in environmental crisis!

Grades 5 & 6 – Wonders of the World – Students will explore the modern wonders of the world and determine what constitutes a wonder, then role-play a committee of engineers and architects charged with designating the Seven Wonders of the 21st Century.
