About UT Austin

Courses for Texas only!

The SIG program at UTAustin will have a science and math emphasis and will work collaboratively with University staff to offer special courses and to integrate the great facilities and resources of the campus into our program. We will offer seven special courses in Texas that will not be available at any other SIG program. These courses are: Plants and Insects: A Dynamic Relationship (J11) and DNA: Your Unique Code (J12) for students who have completed grades 4-6, Self-Similarity: Fractals in Math, Art, and Nature (M32), They Suffered for Science (M33), and Nanotechnology: Pint-Sized Powerhouses (M34) for students who have completed grades 7-8, and Matter Matters: Fundamental Processes in Nature (S54) and Be a Schemer: An Introduction to Computer Programming and Alice Software (S59) for students who have completed grades 9-11. MSN City Guides states that Austin (along with Berkeley) ranks #1 in sustainability. The city has taken great measures to become green. The Austin Climate Protection Plan has a goal to power 100% of its city facilities with renewable energy by 2012.
